"You can stay in a room that is adjusted to your needs(Rooms-Congested),Neat/Clean, and it is only 5 minutes away from Viswanath Darshan, 3 minutes from Kashi Vishalakshi Temple, and 15 minutes from Nandi Chauraha. One needs to walk at least ten min to 15 min from Nandi Chauraha but once reached to the hotel you will not be disappointed. I visited two times to Kashi and stayed in ALKA itself. The food and the staff were good. I reserved a room that had a bathroom attached to it. Sometimes, they don't include a bathroom in the room, so you have to book an attached one or use the shared bathroom. You can see the Ganga aarti from far away, but it is not very clear. The best thing is to look at the Ganga Maa, who is the mother of the river, right below the hotel. You can also take a holy dip in the Ganga at the same place, but only when the water is not too high. Overall stay is quiet but prices can be reduced as it is very remote 15 min walk from main Chauraha."

"The location is fantastic. I was in a Premium Room and it met my expectations, but you pay a hefty premium for it. Everything in the room worked: A/C, fan, wifi, hot water etc. but this is not a luxury hotel, so even the premium rooms are a little spartan. The hotell arranged a taxi from the airport and someone to carry my baggage to the hotel from the drop-off point which is 700m away where Godowlia Road becomes Luxa Road. When I checked out at 4am they again provided someone to carry my baggage to a tuktuk they had arranged to take me to the station. This all worked well and I would consider that it is essential to make use of it. The food in the restaurant is limited but safe. The hotel arranged for a boat trip along the ghats - this worked well and was reasonably priced. Extras have to be paid in cash, but contrary to what Booking.com say, the hotel do take credit cards."

"The whole area where the hotel isand the ghats around it is a no-go area for cars, tuktuks and cycle rickshaws. This is partly because the lanes are very narrow and little more than footpaths, partly because of the temples, and because the roads are so crowded with pedestrians, scooters and motorcycles. This is inconvenient but also a bit limiting as going anywhere requires a fair bit of walking and even when you get to the nearest tuktuks they have to go around the edge of the pedestrianised area which can be quite a detour. You need to understand all this to set your expectations, BUT the location is fantastic for watching what goes on along the Ganges. I think the poor reviews are because people don't go into this with the right expectations. If you book a cheap room you can't expect a fantastic view of the river and A/C etc"

"Getting to the hotel from any sort of transport is not for the faint hearted. It’s about a 15 minute walk through narrow filthy alleyways with motorbikes zipping by in both directions. The hotel sent someone to carry our bags, so that wasn’t an issue. I’d also say watch your change in the restaurant and be clear what is expected re tipping for bag carrying (if on a budget). NB the booking.com room rate is about 30% higher than the advertised rate at the hotel."

I hope someday I will go there and spend some quite time and feel the ambience of Varanasi. Hotel management were quite helpful to us. And we are pretty much happy for their service."
