Built in 1860 for Princess Kholle, this central Stone Town smještaj is a minutes’ walk from Zanzibar Ferry Terminal. It offers luxurious rooms, an outdoor pool and rooftop terrace with a Swahili-style tea house and Indian Ocean views. Air-conditioning, a ceiling fan and mosquito net are provided in all rooms at Kholle House. Each is individually decorated with exposed wooden beams, bright colours and antique furnishings. Guests can enjoy a daily breakfast, as well as meals and beverages throughout the day at Kholle House. It also has a reading room and a garden with a conservatory. Wi-Fi is free available throughout the property. "This beautiful boutique hotel was full of history and charm, with easy access to many sights, restaurants and shopping. It was also a great base to travel from. Our double room was delightful and tastefully decorated as was the hotel generally. From the time of our arrival to the time of our departure, the staff made us feel welcome, comfortable and at home. We enjoyed a good breakfast every morning and we loved that you could mix and match from the small menu. We enjoyed dinner twice and both the drinks and our meals were amazing. We loved Kholle House and will definitely return."

"This hotel is set in a beautiful historic building, full of character and charm. The décor is lush and elegant, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The restaurant on site is excellent, offering high-quality food in a lovely setting. One of the things I appreciated most was the kindness and flexibility of the staff—they allowed me to use the pool and shower facilities on the day of my check-out, which made a huge difference as I had an evening flight. Overall, a wonderful stay combining history, comfort, and outstanding service. I would gladly return."
"A very minor point is that, as expected in a historic building, some of the doorways are a bit low. As a tall person, I just had to be slightly mindful at times. It’s part of the building’s character and did not affect my overall excellent experience."
